The event further underscores Unilever Vietnam’s pioneering role in hitting the net-zero goal, expanding from internal scope (Scope 1-2) to the supply chain (Scope 3), accompanying partners on the journey to reduce carbon emissions and transition to more sustainable business practices.
At the workshop, businesses were exposed to knowledge, tools, technologies, and financial solutions from experts from the Ministry of Industry and Trade and leading units such as HSBC, the British Standards Institution (BSI), Marshal Green Energy, and Nuoa.
It also provided an opportunity for businesses to identify a suitable green transition roadmap, from energy conversion, operational optimisation to the application of emission reduction technologies, contributing to the overall sustainable development commitment of the entire industry.
Nguyen Thi Bich Van, head of country of Unilever Vietnam said, “Unilever Vietnam calls on suppliers to join hands in the journey towards net-zero. Together, we can create a future where sustainability is not just an aspiration but a reality, driving strong commitments and concrete actions to tackle climate change and improve the health of our planet.”
The “Road to Net Zero” training workshop also recognised and honoured pioneering suppliers in the green transition process. Adhering to net-zero criteria is not the ultimate goal, but a motivation for businesses to innovate, integrate green solutions into operations to create long-term value.
Six suppliers including Dynaplast, LIX, Accredo Asia, Duy Tan Plastics, Starprint Vietnam and Ojitex Vietnam were recognised at the event for their contributions to emission reduction and green transition.
As one of the pioneering companies in Vietnam to achieve net-zero in internal operations (Scope 1-2) since 2022, Unilever Vietnam has eliminated emissions from direct operations and transitioned to renewable energy.
A McKinsey report estimates that by 2022, up to 90 per cent of a company’s emissions come from its supply chain, highlighting the need to extend the green transformation roadmap to the supply chain (Scope 3) to reduce climate impact.
While many businesses are still grappling with Scope 1 on the journey to achieve net-zero by 2050, Unilever Vietnam has gone further, achieving net-zero in internal operations and leading the ecosystem in the transition journey.
The “Road to Net Zero” training workshop is evidence of Unilever’s pioneering role, helping partners in the supply chain overcome barriers, build emission reduction pathways, and realise net-zero in a practical and sustainable manner.
Unilever Vietnam hopes that after the workshop, suppliers will be equipped with additional knowledge, tools, and policies to collaborate with Unilever in creating a net emission reduction action plan with ambitious goals, tracking their progress, and jointly committing to adhere to the highest sustainability standards.
