Can Tho City aims for green and sustainable development.

In a significant step towards a sustainable future, Can Tho city has adopted a plan to implement the Politburo’s Conclusion No 81-KL/TW, dated June 4, 2024, which outlines a comprehensive plan to address climate change, manage resources effectively, and protect the environment.

The city’s Party Committee recently issued Official Letter No. 1032-CV/TU, directing all relevant agencies to implement this policy.

Can Tho city has set ambitious goals, including proactive climate change response, disaster prevention, efficient resource management, and environmental protection aligned with green transition principles.

The city aims to develop a green economy, reduce carbon emissions, promote circular economy practices, and restore ecosystems to achieve sustainable development and net-zero emissions.

To support these objectives, Can Tho city will prioritize the development of high-tech and clean technology industries, as well as energy efficiency and conservation measures. The city’s economic structure will undergo a positive transformation, shifting towards knowledge-intensive and high-tech sectors while reducing reliance on natural resources.

As a leading city in the Mekong Delta region for economy, culture, science, technology, education, and training, Can Tho has made substantial progress in implementing green development initiatives.

The city’s recent recognition as a “National Green City” by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) underscores its commitment to environmental sustainability and the efforts of its citizens and administration.
