Report: Yearbook of Global Climate Action 2025

The Yearbook of Global Climate Action 2025 documents the state of global climate action across six thematic systems: energy and industry, nature and land use, food and agriculture, cities and infrastructure, human and social development, and the enabling conditions needed to accelerate action. It compiles quantitative indicators from 2015–2025, showing how renewable energy capacity has more than doubled, forest finance has quadrupled, and over 437 million people have gained resilience benefits through adaptation initiatives. The report analyzes progress by more than 43,000 non-state actors - including cities, regions, companies, civil society organizations, investors, and alliances - and tracks the performance of 150+ cooperative climate initiatives using self-reported MRV frameworks. In addition to highlighting positive trends such as expanded early-warning systems, increased participation in global coalitions, and declines in agricultural emissions intensity, the Yearbook identifies critical gaps: insufficient investment in electricity grids, continued deforestation, slow progress toward the 30×30 biodiversity target, and major shortfalls in adaptation and loss-and-damage finance. The report concludes with priority actions required between 2025 and 2030 to keep the 1.5°C pathway achievable, emphasizing system-level transitions and whole-of-society engagement.
