Promoting green and sustainable development in enterprises

Crystal Martin Company Limited (Vietnam) (Bac Ninh province) said that the company operates sustainably on the 3P pillar: planet-people- profit. The company always cares about factors affecting the living environment, working environment, workers as well as the local community.

Regarding the environment, the company has set a both short-term and long-term plan: Reduce carbon emissions by 35% by 2030 and aim for net zero emissions by 2050 in line with Vietnam’s orientation. For 2 consecutive years, the company has won the industrial energy efficiency award award award awarded by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The companys primary source of emissions comes from electricity consumption. The company applies many energy-saving solutions and focuses on a rooftop supercharging project with a capacity of more than 3Mwp” – Ms. Hoang Minh Thu – Head of Sustainable Development Department of Crystal Martin Company Limited (Vietnam) said.

Regarding social responsibility, the company always cares about and cares for workers and local communities with many diverse activities, typically: Planting 100,000 trees per year; providing solar lights to light up rural roads; organizing annual blood donation…

Regarding digital transformation and automation, the company applies automatic recording systems, minimizing paperwork. When applying the systems, the company has a training program for related employees. The company issues a sustainable development review every 3 months, implemented from 2022. This is a product designed by the Sustainable Development Department to share information about sustainable development activities in the enterprise with all staff in the factory.

Sharing about the importance of human resources, Ms. Hoang Minh Thu said that in the enterprise, there need to be core staff with sufficient expertise and enthusiasm to inspire, maintain and support leadership in orienting and implementing sustainable development. Along with that, workers need to be fully aware of the company’s policies and orientations.

To participate in building, implementing and maintaining activities, such as saving energy, the awareness of effective energy use of each worker plays a significant role. This will help the company’s energy-saving activities reduce CO2 emissions” – Ms. Hoang Minh Thu expressed.

Workers are ready to welcome the green transformation process

According to the Green Transformation with People as the center of ManpowerGroup’s report, 70% of intellectual workers are willing to embrace the green transition process, while the rate of unskilled workers is 57%. In addition, the Y generation of workers (born in 1996-2010) and Z (1980-1995) are the most open groups and are ready to welcome the green transformation process.

The World Economic Forum (WEF) data report shows that an estimated 60% of the global workforce will need to improve and retrain their skills before 2027. A creative and highly skilled workforce plays an important role in accelerating the application and commercialization of green technology. Therefore, improving and retraining skills on a large scale during the period of a shortage of human resources will promote diversification and increase business benefits for businesses.

From another perspective, the report Sustainable Development and New Green Roles by ManpowerGroup shows that the majority (91%) of employers in the world said they did not have enough skilled personnel to help their businesses achieve sustainable goals; 63% of leaders said that skills gaps are the biggest challenge in the business transformation process in the period of 2025 – 2030.

This survey also estimates that 59% of global workers will need additional training to play their current role well by 2030. The current gap between the supply and demand of green human resources is expected to cause a shortage of 19,9% of green-skill workers globally by 2030.
