With the goal of strengthening the Energy Transition Dialogue between the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Viet Nam (MOIT), GIZ supported to organize the study tour on energy transition in Germany from March 25 to April 2, 2023 within the framework of the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue 2023. This annual event aims at fostering energy partnership between the two countries, as well as developing more ideas for the deployment of the energy transition in Viet Nam, which is based on energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy.
The delegation included representatives from the National Assembly, the European American Market Department, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Viet Nam, the Ministry of Construction, the Viet Nam Electricity, the Viet Nam Energy Efficiency Network and GIZ. Delegates will participate in a number of side events and activities to learn about Germany’s experiences and lessons in the development of the RE market and energy efficiency in recent years, from which to draw lessons for Viet Nam.
On the first working day (March 27, 2023), the delegation had a field trip to the hydrogen energy project Enertrag in Dauerthal. During the trip, the delegates were introduced in detail about the Wittenhof Combined Power Plant – an integral part of the Uckermark regional general electricity system, and visited its control center. In addition, there were side events discussing different topics of Empowering partner countries through Power-to-X, as well as opportunities and challenges for solar manufacturing in South and Southeast Asian Countries in light of the global energy transition.
The second working day (March 28, 2023) is the opening day of the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue 2023. Through the first Dialogue, the delegates had learned more about the legal and policy framework of Germany’s energy transition, met and exchanged with relevant German research institutes.
The study tour on energy transition in Germany will continue until April 2, promising many exciting and useful dialogue sessions for both Viet Nam and Germany.
