Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, and Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Vu Dai Thang on May 10 received a delegation from Yamanashi Prefecture (Japan), led by its Governor, Mr. Nagasaki Kotaro.

At the meeting, Chairman Vu Dai Thang expressed his pleasure that Vietnam–Japan relations have been continuously strengthened and have developed comprehensively across various fields in recent years. On that basis, the Hanoi leader welcomed and expressed his expectation that the visit by the Yamanashi delegation would open up new opportunities for cooperation between the two sides in urban development, cultural and people-to-people exchanges, among others.

Affirming that both localities possess long-standing cultural heritage foundations, Chairman Vu Dai Thang proposed that the two sides step up cooperation in tourism and cultural exchanges, facilitate and promote two-way tourist flows, building on the flourishing tourism cooperation between Vietnam and Japan.

Providing information on Hanoi’s development priorities in the coming period, Mr. Thang noted that the city is preparing to establish low-emission zones, while moving toward energy transition; encouraging the use of electric vehicles to reduce emissions, with the aim of developing a smart and sustainable urban area. These are also potential areas where the two sides can enhance cooperation in the time ahead.

On this occasion, Mr. Thang also suggested that both sides strengthen student exchange programs and cooperation in high-quality human resource training; create favorable conditions for student exchanges, and encourage younger generations to engage more actively in exchanges, thereby further tightening bilateral friendship.

Governor Nagasaki Kotaro, for his part, affirmed that Yamanashi is among Japan’s leading localities in green transition and also has strong potential in cultural, heritage, and tourism development. Yamanashi stands ready to share its experience with Hanoi in these areas, particularly in hydrogen technology – one of the alternative energy solutions being applied by Yamanashi toward sustainable development.

Notably, the two sides held active discussions and agreed to continue exchanging delegations at various levels to explore experiences and approaches in applying green technologies to urban transport development.

Governor Nagasaki Kotaro also expressed his hope that Hanoi’s leaders will continue to facilitate greater exchanges and training opportunities for younger generations of both sides, thereby fostering friendship and mutual understanding.

On the foundation of increasingly strengthened friendship and strategic cooperation between the two localities, leaders of Hanoi and Yamanashi expressed their expectation to open up more practical and effective cooperation opportunities in the coming time, thus contributing to elevating Vietnam–Japan relations to new heights.
