Global traffic safety organization AIP Foundation recently held the Community Bike Day in Pleiku City in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai to promote safe and sustainable mobility.
Some 1,000 local cyclists joined the event, which was part of the “Slow Zones, Safe Zones” program, a globally-recognized initiative enhancing sustainable means of transport for healthier and greener cities.
The event was held in collaboration with the National Traffic Safety Committee, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Gia Lai Traffic Safety Committee and the Pleiku People’s Committee.
The event paved the way for launching a range of e-mobility promotion initiatives nationwide in the coming months, including the seventh UN Global Road Safety Week 2023 in May.
This year, the global campaign focuses on the importance of sustainable transport and the need to shift to cycling, walking and using public transport.
AIP Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to prevent road injuries and fatalities in low and middle-income countries, particularly in Asia and Africa.
Since 2023, AIP Foundation has been organizing bicycle safety training sessions for 18,117 students across 19 schools in Pleiku City.
